Wood Buffalo region launches Best Bar None Fort McMurray; fourth Alberta community to introduce a BBN program

On Thursday, February 25 at the McMurray Experience at Jubilee Centre in Fort McMurray, Best Bar None Wood Buffalo was introduced to the public.

Members of the media joined Wood Buffalo RCMP, the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo, the Alberta Gaming and Liquor Commission and operators from over half a dozen of the town's licensed establishments to launch the region's first Best Bar None program.

The region joins the communities of Edmonton, Calgary and Grande Prairie with a Best Bar None program. Currently, over 120 licensed establishments are accredited in those cities.

"Best Bar None will provide licensees with tools they can apply to daily operations to reduce the risk of alcohol-related harm, disorder and crime and will help them be better prepared for any incidents. By becoming a Best Bar None accredited venue, licensees will be able to showcase to patrons their commitment to providing a safe and fun night out," announced AGLC President and Chief Executive Officer Bill Robinson to the room.

"And through our annual awards event, the program also rewards licensees who 'raise the bar' with respect to their operating standards and procedures."
